Correction rarely feels like a gift when it arrives. Our first instinct may be to defend ourselves, explain ourselves, or quietly dismiss the person offering it. But Proverbs reminds us that wisdom isn’t found in never being wrong; it’s found in being willing to learn when we are. Discipline and correction can reveal blind spots, redirect poor choices, and spare us consequences we might otherwise walk straight into.

A teachable heart doesn’t accept every criticism as truth, but neither does it assume there is nothing left to learn. It listens, considers, and has enough humility to change course when necessary. Sometimes the correction we’d rather not hear today becomes the wisdom we’re grateful we heard tomorrow.
